Salutatorian

This year’s Salutatorian was Rachel Slotman. Rachel over the years has shown everyone that you can play sports and get great grades. Rachel is in volleyball, basketball, and soccer while maintaining almost a perfect GPA. Rachel is also part of the National Honors Society and Freshman Mentors. Rachel will be attending Hope College in the hope to major in athletic training.

Rocket Girls Fastpitch Season

The girls fast pitch team ended their season on a very good note. They played Oostburg for regional’s and were very close to winning. “We approved a lot from the first game to the last game of the season”, said Abi von Heimburg (catcher for the fast pitch team). They ended their season with three wins. Two of those wins were against Stockbridge, and the other against Living Word Lutheran. “Even though our record didn’t show it, we really made progress as the season went on”, said Stephanie Ruppel (pitcher for the fast pitch team). Stephanie Ruppel (pitcher) and Brianna Weavers (outfielder) both received second team all conference. Abi von Heimburg (catcher) and Jessica Burant (first base) received honorable mention. All the Girls on the team have high expectations of doing very well next year. The team had a very young lineup this year including no seniors, and will all be returning to take conference next year. Good job this season Rocket fast pitch team!!

Bada Bind Student of the Month

For each month Bada Bing selects a new student to be chosen as the Bada Bing student of the month. These students are chosen by the high school staff according to their academic skills and their involvement in school activities.
For the month of June, Bada Bing has chosen Kristen Slotman. Kristen recently graduated in the class of 2010. She was involved in many sports during her previous four years of high school including, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Kristen is planning on attending Hope College and Majoring in Chemistry.

Mr. Paulson

After 41 great years, Thomas Paulson has finally thrown in the towel and has retired from the Cedar Grove-Belgium High School band. Every student has ever been taught can say that he was a thoughtful person and cared very much of his job and the people around him. Mr. Paulson has left many memories at the school and people will never forget all he has done for it. Mr. Paulson gave his famous “Prom Speech” every year to his students as a reminder to be nice to the ladies and to get a few laughs. The band room will always be remembered as “Paulson’s Palace.” We wish him the best of luck as he plans to continue working with music around the state of Wisconsin.

Miss Premo

Ms. Premo is retiring from Cedar Grove Belgium Schools this year after thirty nine years of working. She divided her time among the three libraries in the elementary, middle, and high school during her career. Along with that, she also was a volleyball, track, and pom pom coach. For forensics, she was the coach for thirty years in high school and did middle school forensics for nine years. Ms. Premo is also involved in the TC/CC booster club as their treasurer. During her retirement, she will continue to live in Cedar Grove and still be a part of the various things she is involved with now. She plans to play a lot of golf and do a lot of traveling during her retirement. The first trip she is taking will be to go to Egypt in November. Besides golf and traveling, she plans to catch up on her reading and to do some crafts. Thank you, Ms. Premo for your thirty nine years of service to Cedar Grove Belgium Schools.

Valedictorian

This year’s Valedictorian is Tyler Weavers. Tyler’s parents are Conrad and Patti Weavers. Tyler has been on the football and golf teams. He is his class’s vice president and is on student counsel and National Honor Society. Tyler plans to attend University of Wisconsin Madison to major in Civil Engineering. Good Job Tyler!

Megan's Library of Love

Megan’s library of Love was started to honor Megan in her passing, and has been running for five years. Megan’s library of love has shipped books all around the country which has come to a total of 12,081 books. In the resent collection they hoped to collect 2,919 books for John Essex School in Demopolis, Alabama. When Mrs. Anderson contacted the school the principal said that we where an answer to her prayers. John Essex School has a poverty rate of 95% for the children that are attending the school. On January 28th during the girl’s middle school basketball game they had a bake sale that all profits went to sending the books to John Essex School. Two Olympians came to promote the movin’ and munchin’ program which had the middle school students eating healthy and exercising to help give them miles to get the books to Alabama. The amount of books that we are going to be sending to John Essex School is, 3,374.
