Ms. Dreher
Cedar Grove-Belgium High School welcomed a new teacher this year, Danielle Dreher. Mrs. Schwabenlender retired this past year, and Ms. Dreher has taken over and is doing a wonderful job! Ms. Dreher was raised in Kewaskum and attended UW-Washington for two years after high school where she received her Associates Degree, and then partook in a semester at Marian University. In the winter of 2008, she moved to Stevens Point and attended school at UWSP with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences and an education license add-on. Before graduating in May 2011, she was a student teacher at Waupun High School and Kewaskum Middle School.
Ms. Dreher is ecstatic about her time at our school so far. She teaches an 8th grade class that comes to the high school, and Clothing I, Foods I and II, and Child Development for high school students. She is excited to find that “the staff and community in Cedar Grove-Belgium has been extremely supportive and helpful. The students too have been awesome! They are very excited in the classes they’re taking, and have already exceeded [her] expectations!” Ms. Dreher has been staying busy with organizing her curriculums and making her classroom the best learning environment possible. Kelly Hubing, a student in Ms. Dreher’s Child Development class, says that the classes that she teaches are proud to stay how much she is appreciated as a passionate educator; she interacts very well with the students and is cheerfully accepted into our school’s community.

First Girls Soccer Regional
By Student Reproter Ashley Turnquist
On Thursday June 3rd, the girl’s soccer team went into their first regional game against Dominican. Rockets were ahead in the beginning of the first half with a goal by Senior Rachel Slotman. The goal was scored with an assist corner kick from freshman Alex Buechler, Rachel was lucky enough to get her head on the ball and into the goal. Shortly after the Rockets scored Dominican fought back with a goal to tie up the game. At the end of the first half Dominican and Cedar Grove were tied with one goal each. Going into the 2nd half both teams were fighting hard for a goal. The game of one of the most physical games the Rockets have played in this whole season. There were no goals scored in the 2nd half. The Rockets went into a double over time with Dominican, still no goals were scored. Since it was a regional game the girls would have to go into a shoot out. Coach Papi Pozo had to choose 5 players to take the kicks. He chose senior Rachel Slotman, senior Hannah Kaul, freshman Alex Buechler, freshman Caitlin Hausner, and freshman Haley Schieffer. Rachel, Hannah, and Caitlin all made their goals. Dominican missed their last kicking winning the Rockets the game. There was no need for Haley to take the last shot because the rockets already won. On Saturday June 5th the Rockets will play their 2nd regional game at 12am. Good Luck Rockets!

The girls fast pitch team ended their season on a very good note. They played Oostburg for regional’s and were very close to winning. “We approved a lot from the first game to the last game of the season”, said Abi von Heimburg (catcher for the fast pitch team). They ended their season with three wins. Two of those wins were against Stockbridge, and the other against Living Word Lutheran. “Even though our record didn’t show it, we really made progress as the season went on”, said Stephanie Ruppel (pitcher for the fast pitch team). Stephanie Ruppel (pitcher) and Brianna Weavers (outfielder) both received second team all conference. Abi von Heimburg (catcher) and Jessica Burant (first base) received honorable mention. All the Girls on the team have high expectations of doing very well next year. The team had a very young lineup this year including no seniors, and will all be returning to take conference next year. Mr. Paulson
By Student Reporter Justin De Smidt
After 41 great years, Thomas Paulson has finally thrown in the towel and has retired from the Cedar Grove-Belgium High School band. Every student has ever been taught can say that he was a thoughtful person and cared very much of his job and the people around him. Mr. Paulson has left many memories at the school and people will never forget all he has done for it. Mr. Paulson gave his famous “Prom Speech” every year to his students as a reminder to be nice to the ladies and to get a few laughs. The band room will always be remembered as “Paulson’s Palace.” We wish him the best of luck as he plans to continue working with music around the state of Wisconsin.
